Music Reflection

January 18, 2011
 Today in music class we were divided into groups base on the instruments that we choose and today we also given the information about the genre of the music for term 3 and 4. For this semester I'm gonna learn about the classical and popular music and we're gonna do some research on them to make the essay so today I'm gonna start searching the information of classical and popular music.

  Today I learnt about major scale and why is it different with minor scale, so today i learnt a lot f things and our teacher, Mr. Herry also gave us the homework of major scale so we can practice at home and improve our knowledge about the major scale. We were also given the assessment schedule so we could check and know when is it due for our project and what kinds of tasks that we're gonna do during this semester. And I will search and study the information of the differences between classical and popular music for the next meeting.

  Today I received the task plan guide booklet and western classical music styles booklet. In the booklet I could get some information regarding the assessment tasks that is gonna due in the February. today my teacher also divided us into groups for the groups slides presentation and the subject is classical vs popular music. And today Mr. Herry also asked us about our email and whether we have done our blogspot or not because the used of the blogspot is for us to make the refelction for Music Theory Class. Today I will start to search more information regarding the topics and start making the essay.

  Today in class we discussed about the classical music and at the first time we got into the class we listen to the music from youtube, we listened to great classical music composers. Today we also tell Mr. Herry about our song for solo performance about popular music and after we told Mr. Herry we were able to rehearse our song in front of the class, but some of the students didnt get the opportunity to rehearse because of the time is so tight and we should have the instrument class that's why Mr. Herry said we can rehearse our song for next week.

   Today I received the photo copies of essay tasks, great composers, and the information of musical eras (periods). Today we also rehearsed for our singing solo performance next week so we can perform well and we Mr. Herry also gave us some feedback so we can practice more and do better for the real performance. Today we also discussed about the group slides presentation and the theory of major-minor and inversion of music, Mr. Herry also gave us the website for study about the chord and many ohter things. After that we have our instrument class for about 20 minutes. In our instrument class we practiced our instrument with Mr. Hary and my friends.

   Today we continue to rehearsed our song and after we finished with the rehearsal we submit our essay and later on we continue with our instrument and prepare for practice the classical music using our instrument. During rehearsal time we have to listen and reflect ourselves to do and have the better preparation. For the next meeting i will prepare for my performance and be ready with it.

February 8, 2011
  today we have our assessment on our solo performance and before we sing our song we did some warmed up so it'll help our throat to produce good voice and we can sing beautifully. When there is a student in front of the class sang a song we have to listen and observe and look if there is something that we should not do during our turn to sing. For some student whom didn't get the chance to sing we have to do it next meeting.

   Today all the student get their chance to perform the singing solo and sang our song in front of the class. during the performing there will be 2 teachers who observed and gave us comment about our performance which is Mr Herry and Mr Sadrakh. They gave us the comment so we can improve our voice or performance if there is another singing solo performance. All the student get their turned to sing their song but if there are some student who were absent they have to do it out of class time. for the next meeting we have to prepare with our group slides presentation about classical music vs. pop music.

  Today we presented our group slides presentation about classical music vs pop music. when the other group presented they group slides presentation we have to listen and give or feedback. For group 1 I think they done their job, yet they just read all the words base on the slides and they didnt have the palm card also they did the presentation over limit of time because they put some information that really doesn't match with the topic. For group 2 I think they done really good job though the slides presentation is too many information about the classical music rather than popular music but i like this group because they put the differences between classical music and popular music with appropriate and clear which help us to understand more about the classical music vs popular music. For group 3 they did a really good job too because even the slides is too plain but the information is important and related to the topic they also put some music which make us more interested. For group 4 i think this group presentation is really boring because the information is not really important though they put the differences also clear. For my group, group 5 I didnt say my group is the best but mostly i think i did a good job because when im trying to make the slides i tried to put only the important things and base on what Mr. Herry said about my group the only weakness is i only focused on the background and it make the words is not really clear to be read of. but i really satisfied that we done our job with on time and we can get score even though we need to improve our skills and knowledge to make the presentation better than tihis one.

  Today we study about the major scale and inversion and we also given the website to help us study what is major scale, inversion and what are the examples. after that we have our instrument class and we start to practice our classical music with our instrument.

  Today we watched some videos on youtube about our instruments so it will help us to motivate ourselves to study our instrument and today Mr Herry also checked our homework about major scale and inversion also triad. today we review the major scale and inversion and for the next meeting we have to prepare and study for our quiz about major scale and inversion.
